Staff is acknowledging the growing budget gap. I have a post specifically on the "Staff Asks Council For Permission To Rein In Spending".

I hope another round of tax increases is not the answer. We haven't even got to how Crook County and Mayor Daley have decided to rip us off on water rate hikes for the next several years.

How long did you work on that C&D thing, was that was about a year? That was the village, but it was for a business really. You need to clean up that old website, it's really hard to follow now that it's all history.

The village says it has fallen on hard times. Expenses were higher than planned, and revenues were less. Who woulda thunk. Brace for another round of tax increases next year?

There is a disturbing trend shaping up here in DG where developers, when it appears the wind is not blowing their way, simply steps back and waits. Whatever form that takes, they start the process of out-waiting the residents that are against that particular item.

Fairview Village? Nothing definitively decided by council.
63rd and Leonard? Nothing definitively decided by council.

Both of these are being dragged out. Residents have these hanging over their heads, disrupting their lives with uncertainty, anger, and fear. And it just goes on and on, with no "date certain" when it will end.

Schnell said enough. Too bad no one else up there did.

Something stuck in my head from the discussion at the village council workshop meeting on June 24, 2008. John Schoditsch from Bradford Real Estate said "We wanted to reach out to the residents, and have a meeting with them to discuss and make changes, and we weren't able to meet with them. They didn't want to, AND I DON"T BLAME THEM." (Check the podcast; it's at about 38:50)

Hmmm, I see, so they DO know what they are doing is wrong, they just don't give a rat's ass.

First call should be to village hall 630-434-5500. I think this will end up a county directed project but who knows.

Does anyone know any construction details on the project? I work for a small contractor and have an interest in bridge construction. Our firm is too small to tackle a job this large. But for my own curiousity, I'd like to know how they're going to build this thing? There must be a temporary Belmont road built around the site. I assume the tracks need to be relocated temporarily also, right?
Is this a steel bridge, or precast girders?
Are there any construction drawings available to the public?
